AVGL Smite semi finals

AVGL SMITE Collegiate Championship rages on into the Semi-Finals! After weeks of grueling competition, it’s down to just four schools – University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Stony Brook University, UC Santa Barbara and University of Alabama as they duke it out for their share of $5,000.

How to Watch AVGL SMITE Collegiate Championship Semi Finals

Tune into the official AVGL Twitch channel at the following times:

  • Sunday, January 30 @ 7 PM ET – Illini Orange vs. Stony Brook University
  • Sunday January 30 @ 9 PM ET – UCSB vs. University of Alabama

Third and fourth place teams will take each home $500. The two winning teams will snag $2,500 and $1,500, respectively and move on to the Grand Finals on February 12th – streamed LIVE on the official SMITE Twitch Channel beginning at 3 PM ET.

Stony Brook team captain Ookthar isn’t taking his competition lightly, calling Illini Orange the “summit of the mountain” they’re climbing. He points out that his opponents have not one, but two SOC level players and an A-List team overall.

“This is most likely going to be our hardest game of SMITE we’ve played in a long time,” Ookthar said, adding that his SOC jungler, capsguy, probably won’t have a hard time of it. “We practiced pretty much all tourney for this match-up and we’re hoping to just get in, do what we practiced, and crank out a win. With me keeping us working together and capsguy being our shotcaller, we’re hoping to perfect the well-oiled machine that is our team.”

UCSB team captain DankShaw has learned from playing against University of Alabama this past summer.

“We know they like to play through their support and jungle and really tend towards an early game, aggressive style of play. This means we’re really going to have to be on top of our buff timers and rotations to make sure Alabama doesn’t get ahead of us in the early game.”

It’s all come down to this – check out the brackets to see how we got here. Which teams will come out on top? Let us know who you’ll be rooting for on Twitter! Don’t forget to tag the schools:
