What is Intel Inspires?

AVGL and Intel have joined forces to create Intel Inspires, an esports tournament and educational summit for high school and college student gamers. Total prize pool across all events stands at $40,000 and includes paid travel to a LAN Championship in April 2023.


What tournaments are available through Intel Inspires?

There are 4 phases to each Intel Inspires tournament:

  • Regionals – Fall 2022
    • Open registration to all schools but divided into geographic regions. Top 6 for each Rocket League regional qualifier and top 12 for each Overwatch 2 regional advance to Nationals.
  • Wild Cards – Spring 2023
    • Open registration to all schools. Top 16 from the Wild Card advance to Nationals.
  • Nationals – Spring 2023
    • 64 team bracket with the top teams advancing to LAN
  • LAN – Spring 2023
    • Top 2 teams from each game in high school and college play in person at the Intel Inspires Summit in Spring 2023.

There are 2 games part of the Intel Inspires tournaments:

  • Rocket League
  • Overwatch 2

Each game is separated into:

  • College
  • High School

Regional Qualifiers (1 per region: x4 Regions Total)

The top 6 Rocket League teams & the top 12 Overwatch 2 teams from each Regional Qualifier Advance to National Bracket for a total of 48 teams.

  • College Rocket League Qualifier 1 | Oct. 15 & 16
  • High School Rocket League Qualifier 1 | Nov. 19 & 20
  • College Rocket League Qualifier 2 | Dec. 3 & 4
  • High School Rocket League Qualifier 2 | Dec. 9 & 10
  • College Overwatch 2 Qualifier 1 | Dec. 10 & 11
  • High School Overwatch 2 Qualifier 1 | Jan. 14 & 15

Wild Card Qualifiers (Open Nationally)

The top 16 from the Wild Card Qualifier Advance to National Bracket.

  • High School Rocket League Qualifier 1 | Jan. 28 & 29
  • High School Overwatch 2 Qualifier 1 | Feb. 4 & 5
  • College Rocket League Qualifier 1 | Feb. 11 & 12
  • College Overwatch 2 Qualifier 1 | Feb. 18 & 19

National Tournament Rocket League College and High School

  • Round of 64 (Broadcast on March 2nd) | Feb. 27 – Mar. 5
  • Round of 32 (Broadcast on March 9th) | Mar. 6 – Mar. 12
  • Round of 16 (Broadcast on March 16th) | Mar. 13 – Mar. 19
  • Round of 8    (Broadcast on March 23rd) | Mar. 20 – Mar. 26
  • Round of 4   (Broadcast on March 30th) | Mar. 27 – April 2

National Tournament Overwatch 2 College and High School

  • Round of 64 (Broadcast on March 3rd) | Feb. 27 – Mar. 5

What is the regional breakdown for the regional qualifiers?

Teams must play in their respective region in the regional qualifiers based upon school location.

Northeast: Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec

South: Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia

Midwest: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Manitoba, Nunavut, Saskatchewan

West: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, Alberta, British Columbia, Northwest Territories, Yukon


What prizing is available?

Each tournament will have a $10,000 prize pool! Teams who advance to the LAN will also have their travel expenses covered.

There will also be 2 school grant awards for $15,000 to help high schools develop or improve an esports program. The champion of the High School Rocket League Tournament and Overwatch 2 Tournament will earn this award for their school!

What is the Esports Educational Summit?

The Intel Inspires educational esports summit, to be held in April 2023, will feature some of the biggest leaders in scholastic esports and strive to unite educators from across North America. Intel Inspires will develop K-12 and collegiate level discussions, providing any educator or student leader the opportunity to learn best practices for growing esports and professional programs through keynote speakers, networking events, and group activities.
